Closing the Bones – A Traditional Postpartum Recovery Plan.

Something HUGE has just taken place!

It takes time and space to reflect on your role as a Mother. Postnatally your body senses the intense need for rest and recuperation with every CELL you are made of. No matter how many times you’ve been through this before, each new pregnancy, birth and child brings some fresh insight or intangible learning that takes time to settle.

The Traditional Postpartum approach includes a gentle drainage massage of your arms and legs followed by a session using cloths to bring your bones back into alignment and leave you with the sense of having been healthily embraced and supported.

A pause for tea.

A home hammam with traditional Morccan clay and herbs is also available to those wanting full postpartum care. This followed by the traditional massage is recommended on days 2, 4, 6. Then at 2 weeks and 6 weeks as a minimum recovery schedule.

Please note as a practicing Muslim I offer this olive oil and closing-with-cloths massage with prayerful silence and full respect for the religious values of the postnatal mother. I chose to train in the Moroccan method as the chain of teaching comes through women of monotheistic faith rather than the Shaman tradition of the Mexican way.
